We are not disappointed with the chosen colors of the year this year by two top brands that we work with closely: Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams! Every year our favorite brands release their own Colors of the Year, with colors they feel are currently trending

Benjamin Moore

Well known for their variety of exclusive and trendy paint colors in a number of different finishes, Benjamin Moore holds the hearts of many homeowners and paint contractors alike. This year, Blue Nova 825 was chosen as their color of the year.

This rich shade of purple is balanced with blue making it a “purple-blue”. With an LRV of 16.98, it is considered a darker color that would work great as an accent wall, kitchen island, bathroom vanity, inside or outside of front door, or a statement piece of furniture, and works well with popular neutrals such as White Dove and Monterey White.

Sherwin Williams

A global leader in paints and coatings, Sherwin Williams offers industry leading innovation, has one of the industry’s most recognized portfolios of branded and private label products. This year Sherwin chose Upward as their color of the year. Upward is a beautiful, breezy, and calming shade of light blue. With an LRV of 57 it is a light depth paint color that is meant to be used as a whole room paint color. It has a violet and gray undertone that makes it fit well into a palette that uses neutral grays. It partners well with popular trim choices such as High Reflective White and palettes that incorporate the ever popular Repose Gray. It would work well in a room that wants to have a coastal – ocean – calm vibe!
